Marion Belanger
Guilford, Connecticut
Marion Belanger photographs the land, often where geology and the built environment intersect. She is interested in how boundaries demarcate states of difference, and how interiority might be manifested in representations of place. She is the author of Rift/ Fault (Radius Books, 2016) and Everglades: Outside and Within (Center for American Places at Columbia College Chicago, 2009). She was awarded fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, State of Connecticut, American Scandinavian Foundation, Artists Resource Trust, and Puffin Foundation. For the past decade she has worked with other artists who bring different perspectives to the collaboration. Her work is held in numerous collections including the National Gallery for Art, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Library of Congress, and the Yale University Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Belanger attended the Yale School of Art, (MFA) and College of Art & Design at Alfred (BFA). She teaches at the Hartford Art School and Wesleyan University.
